en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 9, the Port Autonome de Kribi of Cameroon signed a memorandum of understanding with Kribi Oil and Grain Terminal (KOGT S.A.) to develop a 9.2-hectare agro-industrial logistics terminal at the Port of Kribi. The project plans to build 17 silos with a total storage capacity of 102,000 tonnes, along with 4 large warehouses and cargo handling facilities. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with operations expected to commence in 2029, subject to subsequent approvals and financing arrangements.

According to the project plan, the 17 silos will handle centralized storage of agricultural and agro-industrial products, while the 4 warehouses will each have a floor area of 5,000 square meters, totaling 20,000 square meters of warehouse floor area. The project will also include a cargo quality testing laboratory, road transport support facilities, and equipment maintenance facilities, forming a logistics system covering cargo reception, storage, and transfer.

The logistics platform is planned to utilize the existing deep-water berth resources of the Port of Kribi and can serve vessels with a cargo capacity of up to 50,000 tonnes. The cargo handling system within the port area will connect with land transport facilities to handle the loading, unloading, storage, and subsequent distribution of imported and exported agricultural products and related industrial products.

Under the division of cooperation, the Port Autonome de Kribi is responsible for providing port infrastructure and land resources required for project development. KOGT S.A., composed of Cameroonian, Swiss, and Turkish enterprises, is responsible for developing the agro-industrial logistics terminal project. BGFIBank Cameroon will participate in designing the project financing structure and coordinate the raising of funds required for implementation.

The project parties estimate that 600 to 800 jobs will be created during construction, and approximately 200 jobs will be provided after the facilities begin operations.
