en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 13, Unit 2 of the Dadu River Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station, constructed by China Energy Engineering Group Gezhouba Electromechanical Company, passed a 72-hour trial operation and was successfully commissioned, marking a key step toward full operation.

The Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station, a national key energy project located in Ma'erkang City and Jinchuan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, serves as the controlling reservoir and leading station on the upper reaches of the Dadu River. Primarily for power generation with flood control benefits, the station has a total installed capacity of 2,000 MW, comprising four vertical-shaft Francis turbine generator units, each with a capacity of 500 MW. China Energy Engineering Group Gezhouba Electromechanical Company is responsible for installing all generator units and auxiliary equipment.
During the trial operation, the project technical team maintained 24-hour on-site monitoring, continuously tracking core parameters such as vibration, shaft displacement, and temperature to ensure all unit indicators exceeded national standards and design requirements, achieving a successful one-time grid connection. Following the commissioning of the first unit, Unit 2 was smoothly put into operation within just half a month, successfully achieving the dual commissioning target.

Once fully operational, the Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station will generate over 7 billion kWh annually, meeting the yearly electricity needs of approximately 3.26 million households and reducing CO2 emissions by about 7.18 million tons per year. It will enhance the overall flood control and power generation benefits of the Dadu River basin, becoming a key safety barrier and energy hub on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, playing a vital role in clean energy supply, green transition, and regional development.
