Wedoany.com Report-May 17, Vestas has secured three wind turbine orders in Germany, totaling 84 MW, and has exceeded 1 GW in firm orders for its 7+ MW onshore wind turbine models. The orders involve projects with distinct companies, each contributing to Germany’s renewable energy growth, with deliveries and commissioning scheduled for 2026.

WWS Projektbau GmbH & Co. KG placed an order for three V172-7.2 MW turbines for the 22 MW Weisendorf project. Delivery is set to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026. Berliner Stadtwerke GmbH ordered two V172-7.2 MW turbines for the 14 MW Bernau Albertshof 2 wind farm. Additionally, ABO Energy ordered V150-6.0 turbines for the 48 MW Schierenberg project, with delivery and commissioning also planned for 2026. Each contract includes a 20-year service agreement to ensure long-term performance.

The Weisendorf and Bernau Albertshof 2 orders have pushed Vestas past the 1 GW milestone for its 7+ MW turbine variants, which include the V172-7.2 MW and V162-7.2 MW models. Jens Kück, senior vice president for NCE sales onshore, stated: “We are delighted to celebrate this 1GW order intake milestone for our 7+MW wind turbine variants. It shows that these variants have evolved into our customers’ preferred choice, especially in Germany. Leveraging the modular design approach of the proven EnVentus platform, our 7+MW variants offer efficient energy production and a great business case in low to medium wind conditions. We are very happy with the performance of our four prototypes in the field in Denmark and Germany and are excited to begin installation of our customers’ turbines in Europe.”

The EnVentus platform, launched in 2019, has driven significant growth for Vestas, with over 19 GW of firm orders across 28 markets and more than 10 GW of EnVentus turbines installed globally. The V162-7.2 MW prototype was commissioned in 2023, followed by the V172-7.2 MW in 2024, with two additional prototypes completed since then. These advancements highlight the reliability and efficiency of Vestas’ turbine technology.

The orders reflect confidence in Vestas’ modular EnVentus platform, designed for optimal energy output in varied wind conditions. The company continues to expand its presence in Germany’s renewable energy sector, supported by the performance of its prototypes in Denmark and Germany. Installation of customer turbines across Europe is expected to begin soon, further strengthening Vestas’ contribution to sustainable energy solutions.
