en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indian module manufacturer Alpex Solar expects its 2.2GW tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) G12R solar cell factory in Kosi Kotwan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, to commence commercial production in August 2026.

Prior to the start of production, Alpex has applied to India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to include the factory in List-II of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). The factory has an annual nameplate capacity of 2.2GW and was built within 15 months of its announcement. MNRE has confirmed receipt of the application and is currently evaluating it in accordance with relevant guidelines.
ALMM is an MNRE mechanism to identify photovoltaic manufacturers and products eligible for use in designated solar projects in India. ALMM List-II specifically lists approved solar cell manufacturers and models, requiring covered projects to procure solar cells from this list to promote domestic manufacturing and ensure quality. This list took effect on June 1, 2026, following MNRE's amendment of the 2019 ALMM Order in December 2024.
This investment marks Alpex's entry into upstream manufacturing through backward integration. Following its Initial Public Offering (IPO), the company expanded from solar module manufacturing to solar cell production as part of its vertical integration strategy. The company also stated plans to build an ingot and wafer manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 5GW, with two production lines expected to be operational by 2030.
Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Greater Noida, Alpex Solar entered the solar module manufacturing sector in 2007. The company currently operates 1.2GW of annual solar photovoltaic module manufacturing capacity and is expanding this to 3.6GW through the ongoing expansion of its Greater Noida facility. Its integrated manufacturing footprint covers approximately 212,000 square feet, distributed across Unit 1 (Surajpur Industrial Area) and Unit 5 (Ecotech, Greater Noida).
Additionally, Alpex reported revenue from operations of INR 22.23 billion (approximately USD 230 million) for fiscal year 2026, with EBITDA of INR 3.27 billion and Profit After Tax (PAT) of INR 2.02 billion, which the company stated is its highest annual PAT since inception.
