en.Wedoany.com Reported - Puerto Antioquia has completed its first export of Colombian coffee products, marking a new logistics route option for the country's coffee exports.

Puerto Antioquia stated that this achievement results from two years of technical collaboration with the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (FNC), formal authorization from the National Tax and Customs Directorate of Colombia (Dian), and a strategic partnership with shipping company Maersk.

The port has equipped dedicated warehousing facilities for coffee exports, capable of holding 18,000 bags of coffee, along with a quality laboratory and a full-process traceability system.

Ginna Castro Mican, Vice President of Commerce at Puerto Antioquia, stated that on June 4 this year, Dian approved the port as a loading point for Colombian coffee, after which the port worked closely with the Coffee Federation and Maersk to move forward.

Jesús Tiburcio, Head of Commerce for Central America, the Andean Region, and the Caribbean at Maersk, noted that Colombia is a key strategic market and coffee is its flagship product. Maersk's involvement reflects the belief that Puerto Antioquia will boost trade and strengthen Colombia's connectivity with international markets.

Silvio Bedoya Flórez, a coffee inspector for the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia, explained that regulations require new ports handling coffee operations to be guided and advised by the Federation throughout the process. Once operational readiness is achieved, the Federation applies to Dian, which issues a resolution authorizing the port's operations.
