en.Wedoany.com Reported - Smart meter company Calisen has reached a cooperation agreement with Kraken to deploy the Kraken Field workplace management platform across its national engineering team operations, driving the UK's smart meter rollout into a more complex new phase.

This groundbreaking agreement will enable Calisen to deploy the workplace management platform Kraken Field on the Kraken operating system to coordinate scheduling, work order dispatching, and engineer deployment in its field operations.

Calisen owns and manages the UK's largest portfolio of smart meters, employing approximately 1,100 field engineers and conducting a home visit every six seconds. The company expects the new platform to improve operational efficiency by automating many traditionally manual planning tasks.

Smart meters are one of the foundations for building a more flexible energy system, but their rollout relies on the reliable planning and execution of thousands of field visits. By modernizing the operational layer behind these visits, Kraken and Calisen can help accelerate the deployment and maintenance of the infrastructure the UK needs to achieve a cleaner, more flexible grid.

Kraken's software leverages workforce optimization technology to match engineers with appropriate work orders based on factors such as location, skills, and equipment requirements. By reducing unnecessary travel and improving scheduling, the system aims to increase the number of successful appointments while improving first-time fix rates and reducing missed appointments.

Amir Orad, CEO of Kraken, said: "The energy transition relies on deploying smarter infrastructure nationwide—and making the operations behind it equally intelligent. Calisen has built one of the UK's most important smart metering platforms, and Kraken Field's optimization will help make every visit count: improving first-time success rates, reducing unnecessary mileage, and delivering faster, more reliable service to customers."

Catherine O'Kelly, CEO of Calisen, noted that approximately three-quarters of UK households now have smart meters. She said: "In this mature and more complex phase of the rollout, the remaining installations are in harder-to-reach homes, and we are repairing meters that cannot communicate and performing upgrades. At the same time, consumers installing solar panels, batteries, or switching to electric vehicles rightly expect this critical equipment to function well. This new phase of the smart meter system is more technically demanding, and suppliers will face stricter penalties when problems arise. Therefore, it is crucial that we have the best systems in place to ensure our 1,100-strong field team is equipped with the right tools at the right time and place to improve customer service. Kraken provides us with the best path to achieve this goal."

The partnership with Kraken is part of Calisen's broader technology transformation plan, implemented in phases by a dedicated internal team collaborating with key industry players like Kraken and supported by the company's "early adopter" employees.
