Boeing Plans to Increase 737 MAX Monthly Production to 52

She noted that Boeing has a sufficient order backlog, "market demand is not the current issue," and the company will prioritize listening to customer and supplier needs and advancing product improvements.

Pope emphasized that increasing production of the 737 and 787 series aircraft is crucial for Boeing to restore its financial health and compete with Airbus. After receiving regulatory approval to raise the 737 MAX monthly production capacity to 47, the company is focused on first stabilizing this production level before considering an increase to 52 per month, with subsequent production pace determined by safety management system and risk assessment results. She added that if any orders are announced during the airshow, it will only be to celebrate with customers as per their wishes.

Boeing expects that global airlines and cargo operators will need nearly 44,000 new commercial aircraft over the next 20 years, with short-term disruptions having limited impact on long-term growth. Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg stated that airlines currently have no urgent demand for new designs, and the company needs to improve its financial situation before launching a new aircraft design, which will take several more years. The company has begun designing new aircraft, but the current priority is catching up on delivery schedules. Ortberg revealed that the new aircraft currently has no confirmed configuration, and the team is evaluating various trade-off studies.
