The company reported on Tuesday (21st) that all 20 completed drill holes from the initial diamond drilling campaign intercepted graphite, with one hole yielding a total mineralized interval of 33.78 meters at a graphite carbon grade of 7.97%, located near the surface.
These new data further validate graphitic carbon grades of up to 19.4% from surface sampling. Purification tests have achieved a 5N (nuclear-grade) purity concentrate, placing this deposit among the highest-grade natural flake graphite reported and within the range of the world's highest-quality ore. Atlas previously released results from an independent U.S. laboratory, indicating that the project's graphite purity meets standards for high-value applications such as advanced battery materials.
The asset is located on an approximately 11-kilometer-long mineralized trend in the Vale do Jequitinhonha region, which is emerging as a key area in Brazil for strategic minerals related to batteries and energy storage. Marc Fogassa, Brazilian founder, chairman, and CEO of Atlas Critical Minerals, stated that the drilling results confirm the project's potential, with all first 20 holes intercepting graphite, including one nearly 34-meter interval with a graphite carbon grade close to 8%, mostly near the surface, favoring open-pit development.
Atlas's graphite project in Minas Gerais, along with other efforts in Brazil, aims to secure a position in the global critical minerals supply chain. Currently, multilateral banks and foreign governments are funding research to explore new reserves and increase graphite production. The company announced the drilling results via a capital markets release, emphasizing to investors Brazil's capacity to capture a larger share of the graphite market, which, driven by electric vehicles and energy systems, could reach $36.4 billion by 2030.
