This swivel bridge is the first bridge crossing an existing railway on the entire line of the Hengde Expressway Expansion Project, a key project in Hebei Province. It has a total length of 124 meters and a width of 16.18 meters, constructed using the T-frame first support cast-in-place then plane rotation method. The Hengde Expressway Expansion Project starts from the Dengjiazhuang Hub Interchange and ends at the South Canal on the Hebei-Shandong border, with a total length of approximately 49.24 kilometers, expanding the original two-way 4-lane road to a two-way 6-lane road.
This rotation construction utilized China's first "motor-chain" swivel drive system. This system was independently developed by China Railway 18th Bureau Group in collaboration with Professor Zhang Wenxue's team from Beijing University of Technology. Its essence is an ultra-large ring chain drive system, akin to an enlarged version of a bicycle chain drive structure, used to drive the rotation of thousands of tons of bridge. During the rotation process, two motor gears synchronously engage the chain, generating a uniform and stable horizontal rotational torque, driving the entire bridge structure to rotate at a constant speed and stably, ensuring the entire rotation process is smooth and controllable.
It is understood that compared to traditional construction equipment, this system is lighter in weight and has stronger universal adaptability, providing a new technical solution for the rotation process of existing swivel bridge expansion and renovation projects. During the rotation process, technicians monitored the operating status of the rotating beam in real-time and dynamically adjusted key indicators, ultimately achieving precise positioning of the swivel bridge.
Upon completion of the Hengde Expressway Expansion, it will connect the expressway network, national and provincial highways, and the Land Port International Logistics Park, which is of great significance for strengthening the radiation-driven capacity of the Hengde Expressway and improving the regional road traffic network system.
