en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ansaldo Energia has signed a contract with Pacifico Energy to supply eight AE64.3A gas turbines and associated generators for a power generation project in Texas, USA, supporting the development of large-scale data centers. The equipment will be configured for 60 Hz operation, with initial deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027. This project marks the Italian manufacturer's return to the new-build power generation market in the United States, where it has not supplied equipment for over three decades.

With the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and cloud computing facilities, electricity demand from data centers has surged, leading developers to increasingly favor dedicated power infrastructure. The AE64.3A F-class turbine is designed for applications requiring operational flexibility, fast start-up, and high reliability, with over 70 units installed globally and more than 4 million equivalent operating hours. Its output range and multi-fuel capability make it suitable for modular power plant designs common in data centers, and it can also integrate combined heat and power systems to recover waste heat while maintaining the high availability required for digital infrastructure.

Stefano Gianatti, Executive Vice President of Thermal New Units at Ansaldo Energia, stated that the project "highlights the growing role of flexible gas-fired power generation in supporting the expansion of AI-driven digital infrastructure." The two companies noted that as investment in data center capacity accelerates, this contract could lead to further collaboration. Across the United States, utilities and independent power producers are advancing gas-fired power, renewable energy, and energy storage projects to meet the surging electricity demand from hyperscale computing facilities.
