en.Wedoany.com Reported - FedEx has opened a new logistics center in Košice, Slovakia. The facility covers nearly 1,000 square meters and features 18 pickup and delivery (PUD) docks, as well as four flexible loading positions that can accommodate both vans and long-haul trucks simultaneously. This is the company's second-largest site in the country, designed to support local businesses in expanding into international markets.

The new facility significantly enhances FedEx's service capabilities in the local market. In addition to standard transportation, the site can now handle larger palletized shipments and provides direct access to the long-haul transportation network, enabling businesses to more easily connect with customers and suppliers across Europe and globally. Thanks to process optimization, PUD drivers depart an average of 45 minutes earlier each morning, and international shipment processing time has been reduced by half compared to before. For customers, this means shorter transit times, earlier deliveries, and higher service reliability.

Nebojša Vasiljević, Managing Director of Ground Operations for Eastern and Northern Europe at FedEx, stated that the Košice facility represents a significant advancement for FedEx and its customers in Slovakia. He noted that whether for manufacturers serving international markets or small startups, reliable logistics can make a substantial impact. By expanding the network and enhancing services, FedEx can more effectively support established exporters while lowering the barriers to international shipping for small and medium-sized enterprises. This investment will enable businesses in eastern Slovakia to access global markets more quickly and efficiently.

This investment comes at a time when Slovak companies are accelerating their expansion into overseas markets. Despite challenges such as rising transportation costs and increased operational complexity, the demand for international growth remains strong. A recent FedEx survey shows that 85% of Slovak small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) already engaged in international trade plan to further expand their markets. This percentage places Slovakia alongside Poland as one of the SME markets with the strongest willingness for international expansion in Central and Eastern Europe.

Nebojša Vasiljević added that Slovak companies have high-quality products and the potential for international success; what they need is a partner that can simplify processes and provide reliable services throughout the entire journey. FedEx's role goes beyond transportation—it supports customers through customs expertise, end-to-end solutions, and full transparency, helping businesses expand with confidence.

The new facility in Košice reinforces this service role by integrating parcel and freight handling, increasing capacity, and improving operational efficiency. It enables businesses to scale up more effectively, enter new markets, and diversify their operations.
