en.Wedoany.com Reported - ITP Aero has launched maintenance and overhaul services for the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 low-pressure turbine (LPT) module, marking the Spanish company's expansion from engine design and manufacturing into module-level aftermarket services.

ITP Aero will provide maintenance and overhaul for complete LPT modules of the Trent 1000 Pack B, Pack C, and the latest Trent 1000-TEN variants. At full capacity, the company expects to handle approximately 100 modules per year. The first modules arrived at its facility in Ajalvir, near Madrid, in the first quarter of 2026 and have been completed. ITP Aero, headquartered in Bilbao, plans to achieve full operational ramp-up in the second quarter of this year. Under the contract, ITP Aero is responsible for disassembly, inspection, component repair, reassembly, and testing related to the LPT modules. The new capacity will support Rolls-Royce in introducing redesigned components and durability enhancements for the in-service Trent 1000 fleet. These upgrades are part of the Trent 1000 XE program, which includes a durability enhancement package aimed at addressing reliability issues in early Trent 1000 engines. According to the British engine manufacturer, the package can triple engine time on wing and increase cooling flow by 40%.

"This contract represents a major milestone in our collaboration with Rolls-Royce and affirms our ability to deliver high-quality MRO services at the module level," said Alan Jones, Executive Vice President of MRO at ITP Aero. Jones added that the existing assembly line and expanded facilities will help Rolls-Royce implement durability improvements on a tighter timeline. Rachel Walker, Senior Vice President of the Trent 1000 program at Rolls-Royce, noted: "While we are busy selling and manufacturing new engines, our top priority is to deliver redesigned components to existing customers as quickly as possible. Partnering with ITP Aero helps alleviate MRO bottlenecks."

This Trent 1000 business announcement is the second major piece of news from the former Rolls-Royce subsidiary at the Farnborough Airshow this week. In 2022, the company was sold by the original equipment manufacturer to Bain Capital for approximately €1.7 billion ($1.9 billion). On July 20, ITP Aero signed a 10-year agreement with Rolls-Royce, expanding its capabilities in component maintenance for Pratt & Whitney PW1500G and PW1900G engines. ITP Aero is also advancing maintenance development at other locations. BP Aero, the Dallas MRO facility acquired by ITP Aero in 2024, plans to add a second facility by the end of 2026 to increase capacity and meet third-party maintenance demand. At the end of 2025, ITP Aero acquired Aero Norway, an MRO specialist focused on CFM International CFM56 and Leap engines, further expanding its footprint in CFM engine programs.
