Sallaum Lines Orders Another Car Carrier in China, Investment Exceeds $850 Million
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sallaum Lines has returned to China Merchants Shipyard to order another large car carrier. The company signed a firm order for one 8,600 ceu vessel, with an option for a second ship.

The new vessel will be equipped with a LNG dual-fuel propulsion system and feature an ammonia-ready design, with delivery scheduled for 2029. Prior to this latest contract, Sallaum ordered two firm and two optional 8,600 ceu vessels at Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry last month, which are the largest ships the company has ordered to date.
Sallaum stated that, including the latest contract with China Merchants, its newbuilding project now totals nine vessels, with a total investment exceeding $850 million.
To date, four vessels from this project have been delivered, with two more scheduled to join the fleet in August and December of this year. The remaining three firm vessels are expected to be delivered in 2029.
The company previously ordered a series of 7,400 ceu LNG dual-fuel car carriers at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard.
