The platform integrates structured operational data with historical plant documents, providing a more complete view of equipment performance before maintenance decisions are made.
Nuclear operators currently face the simultaneous challenges of increasing plant reliability, an aging workforce, and continuously growing volumes of operational data. Modern nuclear plants continuously monitor thousands of components, generating a constant stream of alarms, and engineers must quickly determine whether an alarm is a routine notification or a sign of equipment failure.
According to Nuclearn, the platform can integrate with existing systems at nuclear utilities, including plant historians, work order software, and condition report platforms, and is equipped with traceability and audit features to meet the operational and regulatory requirements of the nuclear industry. Nuclearn CEO Brad Fox stated that alarm fatigue and the loss of institutional knowledge due to retiring senior engineers are two major risks facing the industry, and Equipment AI delivers decades of plant experience to engineers when they need it. Nuclearn's Vice President of Products, Lorenzo Slay, stated that most tools require teams to find sensor trends themselves, compile supporting documents, and apply first-principles engineering knowledge, while Equipment AI performs all of these tasks simultaneously, allowing engineers to see the full picture that equipment continuously conveys.
