India's Vizhinjam Port Gets Clearance for Import-Export Operations, Handles 1.29 Million TEUs in 2025

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Vizhinjam International Seaport has received final customs approval to begin handling import and export cargo, expanding its scope beyond transshipment. Previously, this Indian terminal was restricted to handling transshipment containers only.
The terminal is owned by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has agreed to acquire a 49% stake in the facility. Vizhinjam Port commenced operations in 2024 and handled 1.29 million TEUs in 2025.
The implementation of this customs approval marks another step forward in Vizhinjam Port's efforts to expand its share of India's container market.
