This deployment moves the program beyond the pilot phase previously used to validate the technology, bringing it into production at a larger operational scale.
Trailer loading is one of the most physically demanding and challenging workflows in parcel logistics. FedEx loads tens of thousands of trailers across the United States every day. Through its partnership with Dexterity, the company is testing the real-world performance of physical artificial intelligence technology in trailer loading operations and evaluating how it integrates into the hub's overall operations.
Dexterity's trailer loader is powered by Foresight, a physical AI model capable of making real-time decisions in dynamic environments. During autonomous loading, the system reasons across three spatial dimensions and the time dimension, optimizing package placement to balance space utilization, stability, and speed across a wide range of operating conditions. Foresight drives Mech, Dexterity's dual-arm robot, which is designed for heavy industrial operations while maintaining a compact footprint that enables flexible operation inside trailers.
