en.Wedoany.com Reported - Stadler has completed the first FLIRT InterCity electric multiple unit for Hungarian railway company GYSEV at its plant in Siedlce, Poland.

The train is part of an 11-unit InterCity fleet ordered by GYSEV and will operate on the Sopron–Budapest and Szombathely–Budapest routes, with plans for services within Austria. Stadler has presented the first completed train to GYSEV management and Hungarian Minister of Transport and Investment Dávid Vitézy.

This marks the first time in approximately three decades that Hungary has procured new rolling stock specifically for InterCity services. The train features a five-car dual-system design with a maximum operating speed of 160 km/h, and includes first-class and second-class seating areas, a low-floor section, air conditioning, passenger information systems, Wi-Fi, USB-C charging ports, and bicycle storage space.

The remaining trains continue to be produced at the Siedlce plant. Carbodies are manufactured at Stadler's facility in Szolnok, Hungary, and then transported to the Polish plant for final assembly.

The next phase involves testing, with trial runs planned in Romania, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. The trains are expected to gradually enter passenger service from 2027, with all 11 units scheduled to be delivered and operational by summer 2028.

For GYSEV, the completion of the first train marks the project's transition from the procurement phase to the fleet delivery phase. The practical significance of this delivery lies in the renewal of InterCity rolling stock on Hungary's western routes.
