en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sonnedix has completed a €730 million financing package for the refinancing, optimization, and construction of its solar PV plants and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets in Italy, Spain, Portugal, and France.

The financing covers approximately 540 MW of solar PV plants and two BESS assets across the four countries, with Italy accounting for over 350 MW of installed capacity, the largest share among the four.

Nine banks participated in the financing: AIB, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (Crédit Agricole CIB, CACIB), Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), ING, Intesa Sanpaolo, Sabadell, Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (Santander CIB), Societe Generale, and UniCredit.

Sonnedix CEO Axel Thiemann stated that this financing, following the company's recent acquisition of a battery storage portfolio in Italy, reflects its pace of expanding storage capacity in Europe. In July this year, Sonnedix acquired a 260 MW/1,040 MWh battery storage project portfolio in Tuscania, Lazio, from Sphera Energy. This is the company's first standalone battery storage portfolio in Italy, consisting of two four-hour storage projects with capacities of 160 MW/640 MWh and 100 MW/400 MWh, respectively.

Compared with two recent European refinancing transactions completed by Sonnedix, the €730 million scale of this deal is smaller. One was a €2 billion European refinancing covering 1.3 GW of assets across Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Poland, and the UK; the other was a €1.37 billion refinancing covering 1,040 MW across five countries. Both transactions were completed in 2025.

According to company data, Sonnedix's total portfolio capacity stands at 12 GW, with over 1 GW under construction, 4 GW in operation, and a 6 GW development pipeline. The company operates in Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the UK.
