en.Wedoany.com Reported - ExxonMobil has selected Sercel, the sensing and monitoring business unit of Viridien, to provide a software tool for its deepwater oil development project offshore Guyana, aimed at optimizing offshore operations and supporting pipelay and mooring installation activities.

The one-year contract was awarded by ExxonMobil's Global Projects organization. Under the deployment plan, Sercel will use its Marlin software on the Whiptail project in the Stabroek block for simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) management.

According to Sercel, the platform provides a real-time, time-based geospatial view of concurrent offshore operations for SIMOPS. Operations teams gain the vessel and asset awareness needed in high-activity environments to plan, coordinate, and execute work more safely. The service also includes full system configuration, operator training, operational reviews, and 24/7 operational support.

Sercel CEO Jérôme Denigot stated that as offshore activity accelerates in Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and West Africa, the field-proven Marlin SIMOPS solution helps operators manage offshore development projects of higher complexity.

The Whiptail project is ExxonMobil's sixth project in the Stabroek block in Guyana, valued at $12.7 billion. The front-end engineering design (FEED) work for the project's FPSO (floating production, storage, and offloading unit) is being handled by SBM Offshore.
