Wedoany.com Report-Jun 3, Comcast is expanding its fiber network infrastructure across new areas of Citrus County, Florida, aiming to deliver fast and reliable Internet access to more than 4,000 additional homes and businesses. The development will take place in Inverness Highlands North, specifically in the area south of East Perry Street, north of East Gulf to Lake Highway, west of North Crestwood Avenue, and east of North Croft Avenue.

This next-generation fiber-to-the-home network will provide high-speed connectivity, enabling residential customers to reach speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps), while businesses will have access to speeds of up to 100 Gbps. With symmetrical upload and download speeds, users will benefit from enhanced online performance across all connected devices.

This expansion follows Comcast's previous infrastructure investment announced in June of last year, which included an $8 million fiber-rich network serving the communities of Inverness, Hernando, Floral City, and Beverly Hills.

Once construction is complete, residents in the new service areas will be able to access the full suite of Xfinity residential services. These include high-speed Internet, mobile, video, voice, and home security. Comcast Business will also offer advanced solutions for local enterprises, supporting their connectivity and communications needs.

Josh Wooten, President of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the expansion: “We're excited to see Comcast furthering their investment in Citrus County by expanding their network. Reliable, high-speed Internet is essential, whether you're working remotely, learning online or streaming your favorite shows. Comcast's continued expansion in our community gives residents and businesses a powerful new fiber connectivity option and reinforces why Citrus County is such an ideal place to live, work and grow a business.”

Comcast emphasized its long-term commitment to the region. Jeff Buzzelli, Senior Vice President of Comcast's Florida Region, stated: “We're excited to continue expanding into more areas of Citrus County and getting to know this community. We're committed to being not just a service provider — but a trusted local partner. Whether it's with Comcast Business or Xfinity services, business and homes in and around Inverness Highlands North will soon have a great connectivity option. We're eager to earn their business with best-in-class products and services like Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile.”

With this project, Comcast aims to meet the increasing demand for high-speed Internet and enhance the digital infrastructure that supports remote work, online education, entertainment streaming, and business operations in the region. The new network positions Citrus County to benefit from improved access to modern digital services and economic growth opportunities supported by strong Internet connectivity.
