While traditional nuclear power plants can take more than a decade from planning to operation, the construction time for small reactors is estimated at between 3 and 5 years.

The study also highlights the technology's high energy density. Celso Cunha, president of the Brazilian Association for Nuclear Development Activities (ABDAN), stated that the report confirms a growing trend across different countries. He believes the international market demonstrates that SMRs are no longer conceptual projects but have become integrated into concrete energy expansion strategies, with the simultaneous advancement of private investment, regulatory processes, and baseload energy demand marking a new phase for the global nuclear industry.

Cunha noted that the expansion of this market creates significant opportunities for countries that master the nuclear fuel cycle and have a tradition of specialized workforce development. He emphasized that Brazil possesses unique conditions to participate in this new phase, including abundant uranium reserves, existing industrial capacity, operational experience, and one of the world's cleanest electricity systems, with SMRs poised to further unlock this potential, especially in industrial applications and meeting new energy demands.
