en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazilian carbon removal developer Mombak has completed the first delivery of Amazon reforestation carbon credits. The buyers of these credits are the Symbiosis buyer group, whose members include Google, McKinsey, Bain, Climeworks, Commons, McLaren Racing, and Union Square Ventures.

These credits are the first to be generated under the Symbiosis Coalition framework. The coalition is a buyer-led initiative aimed at scaling up nature restoration. Less than a year has passed since coalition members signed the initial offtake agreements.

Under the original contracts, buyers had expected the first credits to be delivered by December 2028. Mombak has delivered certified carbon tons more than two years ahead of the contractual milestone.

The project is restoring degraded pastures across 12 farms in the Brazilian Amazon. Mombak has planted nearly 15 million native trees there, spanning 100 tree species.

The first issuance of carbon credits represents more than 21,000 tons of carbon dioxide removal. These credits are the first nature-based carbon credits to receive Isometric certification, carrying the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label and a dynamic baseline. In addition to deliveries under long-term offtake agreements, the remaining credits from this issuance were sold on the spot market and fully allocated within weeks.

Mombak attributes the early issuance to optimized land selection and strategic species composition. The company uses environmental modeling to screen plots with high growth potential, planting fast-growing pioneer species alongside long-lived species to rapidly establish durable carbon stocks.

Mombak expects to make a second, larger issuance by the end of 2026, targeting an additional 55,000 credits as its Amazon forests continue to mature.

Mombak CEO Gabriel Silva emphasized the role of execution in building market confidence. "Trust is earned through delivery," Silva said. "By issuing real, durable carbon removal credits and delivering them to customers more than two years ahead of schedule, we are proving that Mombak is trustworthy in both quality and execution."
