XPeng AeroHT Rolls Out 1,000th 800V Electric Propulsion Unit in China

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 10, XPeng AeroHT's mass-production plant for flying cars completed the rollout of the 1,000th electric propulsion unit for the "Land Aircraft Carrier" aircraft. XPeng AeroHT calls this the largest-scale production record for 800V electric propulsion units in the global eVTOL industry, with cumulative units delivered so far being progressively used in component-level and full-vehicle-level testing.

The electric propulsion unit assembly line at this plant is equipped with 7-axis industrial robots and automated guided vehicles, with an assembly automation rate exceeding 60% and a 100% automation rate for end-of-line testing. Each unit must pass more than 30 process inspections, including communication, rotor-lock position sensors, speed/position sensors, and vibration and noise checks, before leaving the production line.

The units produced this time adopt an 800V high-voltage architecture, integrating the drive motor, propeller, automatic blade folding system, cooling module, motor controller, and gear system into a six-in-one electric propulsion unit, with the reduction gearbox eliminated through a direct-drive structure. Each unit weighs 25 kg, delivers a peak torque exceeding 400 N·m, a peak power of 70 kW, and a continuous power of 40 kW.

The "Land Aircraft Carrier" aircraft is equipped with six electric propulsion units, each achieving a thrust-to-weight ratio of 12, an average efficiency exceeding 92% across typical flight profiles, and a maximum efficiency of no less than 93% for the electric drive system. The electric propulsion units use 800V silicon carbide controllers and incorporate technologies such as outer-rotor direct-drive motors, flat-wire motors, and self-developed propellers.

Since 2024, XPeng AeroHT has invested in more than 200 "Land Aircraft Carrier" test aircraft, with testing covering powertrain, flight control and navigation, autonomous driving, and multi-scenario flight trials, as well as validation in extreme cold, high temperature, high humidity, and salt-spray environments. The 1,000th electric propulsion unit has passed more than 100 design verification and production validation tests, including performance, environmental adaptability, fatigue durability, and electromagnetic compatibility, with cumulative runtime of related units exceeding 30,000 hours.
