Wedoany.com Report-Jun 6, Invenergy has started operations at the 250MW Hardin III Solar Energy Center in Hardin County, Ohio, its third major solar project in the area. The facility bolsters the region’s renewable energy infrastructure.
WEC Energy Group is the primary owner, while Microsoft will acquire the electricity and renewable energy credits via a power purchase agreement, aligning with its sustainability objectives and ensuring steady demand.
Michael Kaplan, senior vice president of development at Invenergy, said: “Hardin III Solar is the culmination of a decade-long collaboration with Hardin County and the local community.” This highlights a long-term commitment to regional economic and environmental progress.
The project is set to inject $180 million into the local economy, having created over 350 construction jobs and established four permanent positions for operations and maintenance. Invenergy Services will oversee the facility under a long-term management agreement.
The Hardin III project employs U.S.-made solar panels from Illuminate USA, a majority Invenergy-owned manufacturer. Since 2023, Illuminate USA has produced over nine million panels and generated more than 1,500 jobs in Ohio, supporting local industry.
