en.Wedoany.com Reported - VIAVI Solutions Inc. (VIAVI) has launched the latest version of its Vertex channel emulation platform, Vertex 6.0. The product delivers 400 MHz instantaneous bandwidth and supports carrier frequencies up to 23.6 GHz. The company claims it is the industry's first channel emulator specifically designed for next-generation 6G and Wi-Fi 7/8 testing, meeting the requirements of newly defined 6G waveforms and covering the bandwidth needs of Wi-Fi 7/8.

This is the first upgrade to the Vertex platform following VIAVI's completion of its acquisition of Spirent Communications plc's high-speed Ethernet, cybersecurity, and channel emulation test businesses. By bringing real-world RF propagation environments into the lab, Vertex 6.0 complements the TM500 network emulation platform and the TeraVM application and security verification solutions, expanding VIAVI's wireless test portfolio.
Vertex 6.0 features field-replaceable RF modules and can be integrated into existing 6U Vertex chassis. Building on the previous generation's 5G FR1/FR2 capabilities, the platform adds emulation support for complex cellular, Wi-Fi, military, and aerospace RF technologies. Each 6U chassis supports 36 RF ports and 256 digital links, with bandwidth up to 1.6 GHz. For cellular testing, the platform supports FR3 bands with bandwidth up to 1 GHz, including phase-aligned multi-user MIMO, compatible with both TDD and FDD modes. Combined with the VIAVI FR3 MIMO converter and Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) ray-tracing technology, the platform can serve as a digital twin of RF propagation, suitable for use cases such as FR3, Wi-Fi 7, AI-RAN, and ISAC.
Ian Langley, Senior Vice President of Wireless, Security, and Applications at VIAVI, stated that as wireless technology complexity continues to increase, late-stage issues can pose significant risks, and engineers need test tools that can accurately replicate real-world environments and verify performance early in development. Vertex has been the platform of choice for the world's leading chipset, device, and network equipment manufacturers for over a decade, and Vertex 6.0 delivers the next stage of capability advancement to meet the emulation requirements of complex cellular, Wi-Fi, and other specialized topologies.
For Wi-Fi 7/8 testing, the platform natively supports 320 MHz bandwidth and 4096 QAM modulation, covering 2×2 to 8×8 configurations. The channel emulator also supports multiple transmission scenarios including ground-to-ground, ground-to-air, and air-to-air, making it suitable for OTA test environments such as anechoic and reverberation chambers, as well as application scenarios including NTN (LEO, MEO, and GEO), mesh networks, drones, and ISAC.
