en.Wedoany.com Reported - igus recently launched the Iggy Rob home edition humanoid robot, starting at €55,000, marking the first expansion of the Iggy Rob platform from industrial production lines into the service and home sectors. Its mechanical structure, electronic components, and software systems are all independently developed and manufactured in Germany.

The Iggy Rob industrial and home editions are built on the same technology platform, neither featuring bipedal walking. Instead, both are equipped with igus' autonomous mobile robot base, the ReBelMove Pro, with a maximum payload of 250 kg. In real-world industrial scenarios, cost is the primary barrier; wheeled mobile platforms have been thoroughly validated in factories and buildings, are easier to integrate safely, and are more convenient for meeting CE compliance requirements. igus believes that bipedal walking is neither necessary nor cost-effective for most practical applications.
Alexander Mühlens, Head of the Low-Cost Automation Business Unit at igus, stated: "Our world is built by people for people, so it makes sense for automation to take on human-like forms; but humanoid systems can only evolve continuously through real-world applications, which is why we chose an open, reliable platform architecture that allows users to customize as needed." Both robots stand 1.30 to 1.70 meters tall, feature 16 degrees of freedom, offer a battery life of up to 8 hours, and navigate using LiDAR and 3D vision. They come standard with two igus ReBel robotic arms, each with a payload of 2.5 kg, which can be replaced with third-party collaborative robots or humanoid hands.
Iggy Rob is an open platform controlled via ROS 2, with end effectors and sensors expandable as needed; the system is CE-certified and complies with the VDE 5050 fleet operation standard.
The Iggy Rob industrial edition was launched in spring 2025, targeting production and logistics scenarios, handling tasks such as transport, machine loading and unloading, and simple assembly. The home edition covers reception and guidance, education and research, food service, and comprehensive building services, and can also perform industrial pick-and-place, in-house logistics, and station transfer, while serving as an AI training and data collection platform for universities and research institutions. The home edition retains the industrial edition's hardware platform but upgrades interaction and service capabilities: motion curves are quieter, it features a display capable of showing simple expressions and preset service functions; a linear axis has been added to expand the robotic arms' working range, with a rear basket carrying a maximum load of 50 kg; built-in 3D cameras are used for object recognition, precise gripping, and navigation tracking; and wireless charging is supported, enabling uninterrupted operation. The tool end can be configured with end effectors such as suction cups, two-finger/three-finger grippers, or bionic hands with integrated gripper recognition.
The programming interface is intuitive and requires no deep robotics background to operate. Through the Dynamic Mission Data Interface plugin, tasks can be dispatched remotely with real-time bidirectional data interaction, and external AI systems can dynamically collaborate during tasks. The mechanics, electronics, and software are fully independently developed at igus' Cologne headquarters; Commonplace Robotics is fully independently developed by the igus Osnabrück team. Continuing its "test before invest" approach, igus allows both Iggy Rob models to be tested in real-world environments. The RBTX marketplace platform aggregates humanoid robots from various brands, with approximately 100 products from 35 suppliers already listed at the 2026 Hannover Messe. In addition to hardware sales, igus also offers consulting, integration, and diverse financing solutions.
