en.Wedoany.com Reported - ArcelorMittal, in partnership with Mitsubishi Spinelli Racing, has applied advanced high-strength steel to the development of rally raid vehicle components, meeting the demanding requirements of strength, durability, and reliability in competition. The results of this joint engineering effort have been validated in recent races, and the initiative reinforces ArcelorMittal's role as a strategic partner in Brazilian motorsport.

The first outcome of this collaboration is a new upper suspension anti-roll bar, manufactured with ArcelorMittal advanced high-strength steel, which reduces the total weight of the suspension assembly by more than 10 kg while maintaining the strength, durability, and safety required for racing. The next phase of the project involves the development of a lower tubular wishbone for the suspension, using tubes produced at ArcelorMittal's plant in São Bento do Sul (SC), which are developed for applications requiring high structural performance.

This innovative project with ArcelorMittal began in 2025 and is still ongoing, aiming to expand the use of advanced steel on the Triton Ultimate Racing vehicle. Developed by the Brazilian Spinelli Racing team, the vehicle is built to withstand the extreme conditions of rally raid events. In July this year, the team secured second place overall at the Sertões Series Paraná, validating the project's progress and the team's strong form ahead of the season's key events.

Next up, Giga Spinelli will compete in the 34th Sertões Rally, with the race starting and finishing in Goiânia (GO). The event features eight stages, taking competitors through the states of Goiás, Bahia, Tocantins, and Maranhão, covering a total of 3,984 km, of which 2,628 km are timed special stages. The route includes country roads, mountain crossings, sand, gravel, and technically demanding navigation areas, requiring endurance, strategy, and precision from the team.

João Bosco Reis da Silva, ArcelorMittal's Director of Sustainability and Institutional Relations, stated that the Sertões Rally is one of the most challenging environments for testing technology, durability, and reliability. The company is proud to partner once again with Mitsubishi Spinelli Racing and Giga Spinelli. This partnership allows the company to demonstrate in practice how steel materials can help build lighter, safer, and more efficient vehicles, combining high performance with sustainability under extreme operating conditions.

Giga Spinelli stated that the Sertões Rally is never the same as previous years, with each edition bringing different challenges that demand great effort from the entire team. The team is well prepared and confident in the continuously improving project. Competing alongside important partners such as ArcelorMittal, who have contributed to the development of the vehicle, will help the team pursue the best possible performance in the race.
