Wedoany.com Report-Jun 15, Germany’s Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) has received two bids for a 1-gigawatt offshore wind site in the North Sea, as reported by Maria Grabar. The tender, focused on the N-9.4 zone, is part of efforts to expand renewable energy capacity in the region.

Details of the bidders for the N-9.4 zone were not disclosed. Both submitted bids at zero cents per kilowatt hour, according to a BNetzA spokesperson. The spokesperson stated: “The Federal Network Agency intends to conduct the dynamic bidding procedure starting on 16 June 2025.”

The tender, launched on June 2, 2025, offers 1 gigawatt of installable capacity across a 146-square-kilometer area in German waters. The project will connect to the BalWin5 offshore grid, managed by TenneT, with operations expected to begin in 2033.

This tender introduces an “overplanting” rule, allowing the installed capacity to exceed the grid connection capacity by up to 20%. This approach aims to optimize energy output while utilizing existing infrastructure efficiently.

The initiative reflects Germany’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions, with the N-9.4 zone contributing to the country’s renewable energy goals. The dynamic bidding process will determine the final allocation of the project, ensuring a competitive and transparent selection.
