HUMAIN and DataVolt Break Ground on 100MW AI Data Center in Saudi Arabia
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 31, HUMAIN, an artificial intelligence company under Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, expanded its partnership with digital infrastructure developer DataVolt to commence construction of an AI data center in Oxagon, an industrial city under NEOM. The two parties are jointly developing 100MW of capacity as part of DataVolt's 360MW first phase in Oxagon, with the initial 100MW expected to be service-ready by 2028.

The groundbreaking also marks the transition of DataVolt's planned Oxagon AI data center campus from the planning stage to the construction stage. The campus has a long-term planned total capacity of 1.5GW, with the first phase comprising 360MW. HUMAIN is participating in the development of 100MW of this capacity, while DataVolt undertakes the development, financing, construction, and operation of the large-scale digital infrastructure. The project is designed for AI and cloud computing workloads, featuring high-density digital infrastructure, high-performance computing clusters, and the adoption of renewable energy and cooling technologies.
DataVolt and NEOM signed a development agreement for the Oxagon data center project in February 2025. At that time, it was determined that the project would adopt a phased development approach, with DataVolt planning to invest $5 billion in the first phase and the entire data center campus planned for 1.5GW of capacity. Oxagon is responsible for leasing project land to DataVolt and providing infrastructure support. The project is planned to connect to renewable energy sources and leverage the local submarine cable network to establish fiber connectivity to Europe and Africa.
HUMAIN and DataVolt had previously established a large-scale AI infrastructure partnership. In November 2025, the two parties confirmed the joint development of a multi-gigawatt data center project pipeline, with HUMAIN responsible for AI computing power and customer-side demand resources, and DataVolt responsible for data center design, construction, and operation. The 100MW Oxagon project now represents the specific data center capacity under their cooperation framework to enter the actual construction phase.
Under the latest implementation arrangements, the 360MW first phase under construction is the initial development stage of DataVolt's entire 1.5GW Oxagon campus. Apart from the confirmed 100MW expected to be service-ready by 2028, the two parties have not yet announced the specific phased delivery timeline for the remaining 260MW of the first phase.
