Baker Hughes Signs Contract with BP for Production Enhancement Services in the UK North Sea
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 4, Baker Hughes was awarded a contract by BP for offshore production enhancement and wellbore stimulation services in the UK North Sea, covering BP's offshore operations on the UK Continental Shelf, for new well development and enhanced oil recovery in mature fields. Baker Hughes will adopt a vessel-based operations approach to deliver services for offshore completions and production enhancement activities.

Amerino Gatti, Executive Vice President of Oilfield Services & Equipment at Baker Hughes, stated that by integrating vessel-based stimulation experience, advanced intervention technologies, and production optimization capabilities, the company can help BP improve reservoir performance, enhance operational flexibility, and unlock greater value from both new and mature fields across its North Sea portfolio.
According to Baker Hughes, this vessel-based operational model offers flexibility in scheduling and operations, supporting efficient execution of stimulation activities. Leveraging advanced drilling, completion, and intervention technologies, the company can help operators optimize reservoir performance throughout the entire well lifecycle. The stimulation solution is designed to enhance operational reliability, minimize non-productive time, and optimize recovery rates, with operations supported by local UK operating bases and a mature supply chain network.
BP's UK North Sea portfolio encompasses multiple assets, including Clair and Clair Ridge, Glen Lyon, and the Greater Schiehallion area west of the Shetland Islands, as well as the Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP) in the central North Sea—which includes fields such as Seagull and Mungo, handling a mix of new development projects and mature field production.
Baker Hughes has also recently secured orders in multiple regions globally, including an agreement with Searah (an independent joint venture established by Eni and Petronas, each holding a 50% stake in Southeast Asia) to provide subsea production systems and digital solutions for one of Indonesia's upcoming major energy projects.
