CNNC 23 Wins Contract for Nuclear Island and Supporting BOP Installation of Unit 3 at Jiangsu Xuwei Nuclear Heating Power Plant Phase I

(hereinafter referred to as "CNNC 23") won the bid for the nuclear island and supporting BOP installation project of Unit 3 at the Jiangsu Xuwei Nuclear Heating Power Plant Phase I in the field of nuclear island installation.

The Jiangsu Xuwei Nuclear Heating Power Plant Phase I project plans to construct two "Hualong One" units and one high-temperature gas-cooled reactor unit, making it the world's first dual-reactor coupled demonstration project combining the "Hualong One" pressurized water reactor and the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor. Unit 3, for which the contract was won this time, is the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor unit of the project.

The high-temperature gas-cooled reactor features inherent safety, high power generation efficiency, and strong heat supply capability, making it an important technical route for the multi-purpose utilization of nuclear energy and high-temperature steam heating. The construction of this unit will promote the engineering and commercial application of fourth-generation nuclear power technology and provide a demonstration for expanding nuclear energy from single-purpose power generation to combined heat and power supply and comprehensive energy utilization.

CNNC 23 stated that it will leverage its engineering experience accumulated in the construction of "Hualong One" and high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, strengthen construction organization and refined management, advance the nuclear island and supporting BOP installation of Unit 3 at the Xuwei Phase I project, and serve the promotion and application of nuclear heating in China and the transformation of the energy structure.
