en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 8, German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon signed an equipment supply contract with French renewable energy developer Qair to supply 7 E-175 EP5 E2 onshore wind turbines for the Cobadin I wind project in Constanța County, Romania. The first phase of the project has an installed capacity of approximately 50 MW. This marks the first collaboration between Enercon and Qair on a wind project in Romania.

All 7 turbines are based on the E-175 EP5 E2 platform, with a rated capacity of 7 MW per unit and a rotor diameter of 175 meters, and will be installed on 112-meter-high steel towers. This model is Enercon's most powerful onshore wind turbine platform to date, and Cobadin I will also become the first installation project of the E-175 EP5 E2 in Romania.

Turbine installation is scheduled to begin in July 2027, with the first unit expected to be commissioned by the end of August 2027. In addition to supplying and installing the 7 turbines, Enercon will also provide long-term operations and maintenance services for the project.

Cobadin I is being developed by Qair in Romania, located in the Cobadin area of Constanța County. Qair's previous environmental and social documents set the first-phase plan at 50 MW, accompanied by on-site roads, turbine foundations, collector cables, booster facilities, and grid connection lines. Earlier environmental documents had adopted a plan of 8 × 6.25 MW turbines; following the finalization of this equipment contract, the project's turbine configuration has been adjusted to 7 × 7 MW Enercon turbines.

The overall Cobadin wind development is planned at approximately 100 MW, consisting of two 50 MW phases. Qair has obtained Romanian Contract for Difference (CfD) support for each of the two 50 MW projects, with Cobadin I corresponding to the first phase of development. Qair disclosed in 2025 that it had secured two batches of 50 MW each of Cobadin CfD capacity in Romania.

According to the project's current schedule, Cobadin I has progressed from the development and environmental permitting stage to the core wind turbine equipment procurement stage, and in 2027 will advance turbine installation and commissioning of the first units. This contract simultaneously confirms the turbine model, quantity, tower height, installation timeline, and long-term operations and maintenance arrangements.
