Synera Renewable Energy Signs Corporate Power Purchase Agreement for 800MW Formosa 6 Offshore Wind Project
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 9, Synera Renewable Energy Group announced that its Formosa 6 offshore wind project has signed a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Star Power. Formosa 6 is located off the coast of Xianxi Township, Changhua County, and has been allocated 800MW of development capacity. It is Synera Renewable Energy's fourth offshore wind project developed in Taiwan and its first project in the central Taiwan Strait.
This agreement continues the two parties' previous power purchase collaboration on Formosa 4. Formosa 4 has an installed capacity of 495MW, and the two parties signed a corporate power purchase agreement at the end of 2025. With the addition of the Formosa 6 project, Star Power's cumulative contracted procurement capacity across the two offshore wind projects, Formosa 4 and Formosa 6, has exceeded 10% of the two projects' combined installed capacity of 1,295MW. The two parties did not disclose the specific procurement capacity, contract term, or transaction amount corresponding to this Formosa 6 CPPA.
Formosa 6 was awarded 800MW of capacity in 2024 under the second round of the third phase of Taiwan's offshore wind zonal development selection. The project site is located approximately 35 kilometers off the coast of Xianxi Township, Changhua County. Once completed, its estimated annual power generation is expected to correspond to the electricity demand of approximately 860,000 households. According to the arrangement announced by Star Power, the relevant offshore wind power is expected to begin supply in the fourth quarter of 2028.
Formosa 6 is currently still in the development stage. This CPPA represents a new milestone in the project's power sales arrangements, securing the sale of a portion of future generation in advance through a corporate power purchase agreement. Synera Renewable Energy has previously developed projects in Taiwan including Formosa 1, Formosa 2, and the 495MW Formosa 4, while Formosa 6 corresponds to a new round of zonal development capacity.
Star Power is a power services and energy management company under HD Renewable Energy. Its existing business includes green power trading, photovoltaic resources, and energy storage dispatch. Following the signing of this Formosa 6 agreement, its offshore wind procurement collaboration with Synera Renewable Energy has expanded further from the 495MW Formosa 4 project to the 800MW Formosa 6 project.
