Vestas Secures 105MW Wind Turbine Order in Italy, to Supply 20 Units
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 8, Vestas announced two onshore wind equipment orders in Italy, totaling 105MW and involving 20 wind turbines. Among them, SIMIC Group ordered 10 V163-4.5 MW turbines for the Castellani wind project, with an installed capacity of 45MW; the other 60MW order will use 10 V150-6.0 MW turbines. Both orders are included in Vestas' new orders for the third quarter of 2026.

The Castellani project order includes 10 V163 turbines with a unit capacity of 4.5MW, along with a 20-year AOM 5000 service agreement. Vestas plans to complete equipment delivery and turbine commissioning in the second half of 2027.
The other 60MW order is configured with 10 V150-6.0 MW turbines, with a unit capacity of 6MW, and a 10-year AOM 4000 service agreement has been signed. Equipment delivery is planned for the second half of 2027, and turbine commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2028.
The two orders together correspond to 20 turbines, including 10 V163-4.5 MW and 10 V150-6.0 MW units. Compared with turbine orders that only include equipment supply, both contracts simultaneously incorporate long-term operation and maintenance services, with service terms of 20 years and 10 years respectively.
The name of the Castellani wind project has previously appeared in Italy's environmental approval system. Historical project records from Italy's Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security show that the Castellani wind development is located in areas including Venosa and Maschito in the Province of Potenza, Basilicata region; the early plan once envisaged 11 3MW turbines with a total scale of approximately 39MW. The order disclosed by Vestas this time has been adjusted to 10 V163-4.5 MW turbines with a 45MW configuration.
As of September 8, Vestas' publicly disclosed wind orders for the third quarter of 2026 reached 786MW. Orders from markets including Germany, Peru, and Italy were previously announced in the third quarter, and this 105MW Italian order is the latest batch of publicly disclosed equipment procurement since September.
