Wiwi Consult Wins 80 MW Solar PV Project in Germany, Shifts Toward Wind-Solar-Storage Development
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 10, German renewable energy project developer Wiwi Consult announced that it had won three project awards in the German Federal Network Agency's July 1 solar PV auction, with a total installed capacity of 80 MW, making it the company's largest single-round award since its founding 11 years ago. The company is also adjusting its subsequent project development model, incorporating wind power, solar PV, and battery energy storage systems into unified planning, and advancing the construction of standalone battery energy storage projects.

The auction results published by the German Federal Network Agency on August 18 show that this round, targeting ground-mounted solar PV and solar PV projects on specific building structures, received a total of 401 bids with a declared capacity of approximately 3,170 MW, while the auction capacity was approximately 2,135 MW. Ultimately, 261 bids were awarded, totaling approximately 2,135 MW; the awarded price ranged from 4.38 to 4.97 euro cents/kWh, with a weighted average awarded price of 4.79 euro cents/kWh, lower than the previous round's 4.94 euro cents/kWh. All three projects submitted by Wiwi Consult in this round were awarded.
Wiwi Consult currently has approximately 45 MW of solar PV projects under implementation. Its Gerbach-Kriegsfeld solar PV project covers an area of approximately 30.6 hectares and is planned to install more than 70,000 modules, with a total installed capacity of approximately 33 MW, making it one of the company's main solar PV projects under construction.
In terms of wind power, the company currently has four projects, totaling 20 wind turbines, entering the construction phase, with another five projects planned to be launched subsequently. According to the existing construction schedule, by 2027, nine wind power projects are expected to be implemented simultaneously, with a total capacity of approximately 180 MW, of which three projects are planned to be commissioned within 2026.
The energy storage business has entered the project implementation preparation phase. Wiwi Consult plans to build four standalone battery energy storage stations in 2027, each with a rated power of 10 MW and an energy storage capacity of 40 MWh, with the four projects totaling 40 MW of power and 160 MWh of capacity. All of the above projects have currently obtained grid connection commitments from grid operators. The company is also advancing combined solar-plus-storage development in its existing solar PV projects.
Wiwi Consult's subsequent new projects will focus on adopting a hybrid development model combining wind power, solar PV, and battery energy storage, while continuing to develop solar-plus-storage projects and standalone energy storage facilities. The company's existing project portfolio already covers wind power construction, ground-mounted solar PV, battery energy storage, and multi-technology combined development, and will advance a new round of wind power projects in parallel with its 2027 energy storage construction plan.
