Trina Solar Supplies 184,300 Modules for Uzbekistan's 126MW Sarimay PV Project
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 9, Trina Solar disclosed that it supplied 184,328 Vertex N 695W PV modules for the 126MW Sarimay solar power plant in Khorezm Region, Uzbekistan. The module model is NEG21C.20, featuring n-type i-TOPCon cell technology and a bifacial dual-glass structure. The power plant has now completed commissioning and been connected to the national grid of Uzbekistan.
The Sarimay project was developed, financed, constructed, and is operated and maintained by French renewable energy developer Voltalia, covering an area of approximately 180 hectares. The project secured development rights through a public tender, and Voltalia won the bid in January 2023 at a tariff of USD 28.88/MWh, signing a 25-year power purchase agreement with the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan.
Construction began in May 2024, and the first electricity was delivered to the grid in November 2025. The plant is equipped with more than 350 inverters and approximately 3 kilometers of transmission lines connecting to the existing Sarimay substation. The designed annual power generation is approximately 252GWh.
The 184,328 modules disclosed by Trina Solar this time have a unit power of 695W, adopt a bifacial power generation structure, and come with a 30-year power warranty. The project's operational framework period is 25 years, corresponding to the power purchase agreement cycle.
Project financing was secured in October 2024. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development provided a financing package of up to USD 54.6 million for the Sarimay project, including a senior loan of up to USD 44.8 million and a EUR 9 million VAT financing facility; the European Union's European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus also provided an unfunded guarantee for USD 7 million of the senior loan portion.
Voltalia is also planning to add a 50MW/100MWh battery energy storage facility at the Sarimay energy base. The storage project and the 126MW PV plant are separate construction units, and the disclosure by Trina Solar this time corresponds to the 126MW PV portion that has already been put into operation.
