Rauschenberg Wind Farm in Germany Secures 34 MW Turbine Order, to Be Commissioned in 2028

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 14, the Nordex Group announced that it had secured a 34 MW wind power equipment order from EEF Erneuerbare Energien Fabrik GmbH, under which it will supply and install 5 N175/6.X onshore turbines for the Rauschenberg wind farm in Hesse, Germany. Each turbine has a rated capacity of 6.8 MW and a hub height of 199 meters. The order also includes a 20-year Premium Service long-term operations and maintenance contract. Delivery and installation are scheduled to begin at the end of 2027, and the repowered wind farm is expected to be commissioned in the summer of 2028.

This project is a repowering of an existing wind farm. The Rauschenberg wind farm currently operates 5 old turbines with a total installed capacity of 3 MW; after repowering, the number of turbines will remain at 5, but the capacity of each turbine will increase to 6.8 MW, raising the total installed capacity to 34 MW. Based on installed capacity, the repowered capacity will be approximately 11 times the current level.

The new turbines use the Nordex N175/6.X platform, and the 199-meter hub height is one of the important configurations currently available for this model. Nordex had previously secured its first order for the N175/6.X with a 199-meter hub height in March 2026, supplying 3 7 MW turbines for the Marienmünster-Altenbergen project in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. That project also uses Nordex's self-developed hybrid tower system, with a concrete lower section and a steel upper section, and is scheduled to be commissioned in the summer of 2027.

The taller tower used in the Rauschenberg project mainly addresses the operating requirements of a low-wind-speed site. The 199-meter hub height of the N175/6.X allows access to higher and more stable wind layers, and together with the large-diameter rotor, it improves power generation during low-wind-speed periods. This order uses the 6.8 MW configuration, which differs from the 7 MW configuration used in the first 199-meter hub height project in March.

This contract also combines equipment supply, installation, and long-term operations and maintenance into a single order. The 20-year service period covers long-term maintenance after the turbines are commissioned, and is another major contract component of this project in addition to the 34 MW equipment supply. Nordex disclosed that EEF plans to invest more than 10 billion euros over the next few years to develop wind power, photovoltaic, and energy storage projects, but did not separately disclose the investment amount for the Rauschenberg project.
