Finland's Fibernet places an additional order of approximately EUR 70,000 for InCoax broadband equipment, covering more than 150 apartment buildings
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 15, Finnish fiber operator Fibernet Finland placed an additional order of approximately EUR 70,000 with InCoax Networks to continue deploying the Fiber Access Extension broadband access solution. Fibernet had previously contracted to adopt this solution in more than 150 apartment buildings, and this order is a repeat purchase formed by subsequent network expansion.

Fiber Access Extension adopts an access approach of "fiber to the building + in-building coaxial reuse." The operator lays fiber to the building and then uses the existing coaxial network to connect each household, which can reduce rewiring within the building. Most projects previously deployed by Fibernet used InCoax D2501 equipment, which can provide apartment users with symmetric broadband services of up to 1 Gbps.
Fibernet is currently continuing to expand its fiber network in regional cities, towns, and local municipalities in Finland. InCoax disclosed that, in addition to the Fibernet project, its Fiber Access Extension solution has also been used in broadband modernization projects in places such as Kankaanpää and Sodankylä, with the related deployments in the two locations involving approximately 1,000 apartments in total.
Among them, the Sodankylä project is implemented by the locally municipally owned Tähtikuitu Oy Sodankylä, covering approximately 750 apartments overall, of which about 400 are expected to adopt the InCoax solution. The project has completed the connection of the first 100 users, upgrading the original VDSL network to symmetric gigabit broadband based on the existing in-building coaxial lines.
Fiber coverage in Finland is still expanding. Citing data from Traficom, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency, InCoax said that as of September 2025, fiber networks had covered approximately 80% of Finnish households, up 12 percentage points year-on-year; Finland currently has about 130 companies that own or operate fiber networks. This additional order corresponds to the "last segment" access link of existing apartment buildings, rather than new backbone fiber projects.
