Portugal's 49MWp BNZ Gemunde PV Plant Achieves Full-Load Operation

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 22, BNZ, an independent renewable energy power producer, announced that its Gemunde PV plant in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Braga District, Portugal, has achieved full-load operation. The project has an installed capacity of 49MWp and is expected to generate 78,400 MWh annually, making it BNZ's first renewable energy project to enter operation in Portugal.

GRS undertook the PV and energy storage EPC construction of the Gemunde project. During the construction phase, the project required adaptation to complex terrain conditions, with construction organized around module layout, site roads, electrical systems, and grid-connection facilities. BNZ disclosed that the project created approximately 370 direct and indirect jobs cumulatively during construction.

The plant is expected to generate 78,400 MWh annually, enough to meet the annual electricity demand of approximately 14,000 people. The project has now entered a stable operation phase, and BNZ's project page lists Gemunde as "In operation."

The Gemunde project also incorporates on-site ecological restoration and environmental protection measures, including cork oak forest protection, green space restoration, and restoration of the local natural environment. The project carries out cooperation with surrounding communities and related environmental management work during both the construction and operation phases.

BNZ currently plans to invest up to EUR 600 million in Portugal to advance the construction and operation of nine solar power plants. In addition to the 49MWp Gemunde project, the company's 28MWp Muro PV plant in Trofa, Porto District, has also entered operation. BNZ also plans to deploy 150MW of battery energy storage in Portugal, of which 60MW will be located in the northern region.
