Uztelecom of Uzbekistan Commissions Two AI Data Centers in Bukhara and Kokand

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 22, Uzbekistan's national telecommunications operator Uztelecom officially commissioned two data centers in Bukhara and Kokand. The two facilities were inaugurated during ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026, primarily targeting artificial intelligence, cloud services, big data processing, and high-performance computing needs, providing regionalized computing infrastructure for government agencies, enterprises, and technology companies.

The new data centers are uniformly connected to the UzCloud national cloud platform, offering services including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, S3 object storage, and BaaS backup. The AI computing segment is equipped with dedicated GPU servers, made available to customers through AI Cloud and GPU-as-a-Service models, and can be used for applications such as AI model training and inference, machine learning, large-scale data processing, image recognition, video analytics, and digital twins.

Both facilities are more than 300 kilometers from Tashkent, making them Uztelecom's data center nodes farthest from the capital to date. The company has adopted a cross-regional deployment approach to build a disaster recovery system, enabling business workloads to be transferred to other nodes when a single site experiences a failure. The Bukhara and Kokand data centers have both obtained Uptime Institute Tier III Design certification and are equipped with redundant power supply, redundant cooling, and additional communication links, allowing equipment maintenance to be carried out without interrupting business operations.

On the network side, the two data centers have been connected to Uztelecom's backbone network and Uzbekistan's national internet exchange point TAS-IX. Uztelecom's existing infrastructure is built in accordance with the ISO/IEC 27001 information security management system, and the company plans to further pursue PCI DSS compliance certification for its data centers.

In the next phase, Uztelecom will continue to expand its distributed data center network. A new data center in the Zangiata district of Tashkent Region is scheduled to be commissioned in the fall of 2026, at which point it will become the company's fifth regional node. The project will also involve cooperation with Toyota Tsusho, NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, and NEC to deploy an APN all-optical network based on the IOWN concept.

On the same day, Uztelecom and its subsidiary UZ-SAT also signed an agreement with Amazon Leo, under which UZ-SAT will serve as Amazon Leo's authorized distributor in Uzbekistan. The cooperation targets remote areas that are difficult to cover with traditional terrestrial communication infrastructure, introducing low-earth-orbit satellite broadband as a complement to existing terrestrial networks.
