Petrobras and Mozambique's ENH Sign Two-Year Oil and Gas Cooperation Memorandum

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Petrobras, Brazil's national oil company, and ENH, Mozambique's national hydrocarbon company, have signed a memorandum of understanding on oil and gas cooperation, establishing a framework for oil and gas business cooperation between the two parties. Under the agreement, the two sides will carry out joint work on oil and gas resource research, evaluation, development, and commercialization, while also promoting professional knowledge sharing and technical experience exchange. The agreement is valid for two years and may be extended upon mutual consultation after expiration.

The agreement was signed by Sylvia Anjos, Petrobras Exploration and Production Director, and Jonilton Pessoa, Exploration Executive Manager, together with Rudêncio Morais, Chairman of the ENH Board of Directors, and Alegria Cossa, Director. Petrobras directly included its exploration and production department as a signing entity of the agreement, and the subsequent cooperation between the two parties covers multiple business stages, from preliminary resource research and oil and gas evaluation to development and commercialization. At present, the two parties have not yet announced specific cooperation blocks, individual development projects, investment amounts, or drilling plans.

ENH is the commercial execution entity of the Mozambican government in the oil and gas industry, with business covering oil and gas exploration, production, processing, commercialization, and distribution, and it also participates in the construction and operation of related infrastructure. In Mozambique's midstream business, ENH participates through affiliated companies in the Pande and Temane natural gas projects, which include natural gas processing facilities and a cross-border natural gas pipeline connecting Temane in Mozambique with Secunda in South Africa. The Pande and Temane gas fields have formed a business chain covering natural gas production, processing, transportation, and sales.

The Pande–Temane natural gas project began commercial production in 2004, and the capacity of its natural gas processing facilities was once increased from 120 million gigajoules per year to 183 million gigajoules per year. The supporting cross-border pipeline has a total length of approximately 865 kilometers and currently has a designed transportation capacity of approximately 212 million gigajoules per year. The shareholders of ROMPCO, the company operating the pipeline, include ENH affiliate Companhia Moçambicana de Gasoduto, South Africa's iGas, and Sasol South Africa.

According to the scope of work defined in the document signed by the two parties this time, subsequent cooperation can advance from resource research and technical evaluation to specific development and commercialization plans.
