Malaysia Airlines Signs with AFI KLM E&M for Long-Term Component Support for A350 Fleet

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 28, Malaysia Airlines signed a long-term component support agreement with AFI KLM E&M, under which the latter will provide integrated component support services for Malaysia Airlines' A350 fleet. The agreement covers A350-related component repair, spare parts supply, and operational support. The two parties did not disclose the contract value or specific term.

Under the agreement, AFI KLM E&M will provide customized component support tailored to the availability and operational requirements of Malaysia Airlines' A350 fleet. The company has long been involved in A350 operations and maintenance, drawing on operational data and maintenance experience accumulated from Air France's own A350 fleet, while also providing component support services to multiple A350 operators worldwide. Malaysia Airlines' inclusion of the A350 in this cooperation represents an extension of the existing maintenance partnership between the two parties.

The two parties had previously cooperated on component support for Malaysia Airlines' Boeing 737 fleet. With the addition of the long-term A350 agreement, the cooperation now further covers Malaysia Airlines' next-generation widebody fleet. Malaysia Airlines stated that as the number of next-generation aircraft increases, stable component supply and maintenance support are needed to maintain fleet availability and flight operations.

Malaysia Airlines currently has its own maintenance system through MAB Engineering, with component repair capabilities covering more than 3,000 Airbus, Boeing, ATR, and Viking aircraft component part numbers, while also providing line maintenance, AOG aircraft recovery, aviation material storage, and component inventory management services. The signing with AFI KLM E&M represents a fleet support arrangement in which external long-term component support runs in parallel with Malaysia Airlines' own MRO capabilities.
