Barrick North America Gold Mining Operations Introduces Avathon Physical AI Platform

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Barrick North America has selected Avathon as its strategic technology partner, deploying the Avathon Autonomy Platform across its North American gold asset portfolio to build an AI-native operating model spanning exploration, mine planning, safety, production, mineral processing, maintenance, and supply chain. The platform will connect data, equipment, people, processes, and operational constraints across disparate business systems, delivering continuous analytics, risk identification, decision support, and workflow coordination to mine sites.

The core of this deployment is not software procurement for a single mine, but rather the establishment of a unified intelligence layer spanning business functions. Avathon's Computational Knowledge Graph links assets, processes, personnel, constraints, and both structured and unstructured operational data into a single knowledge system, upon which AI agents participate in production scheduling, equipment maintenance, and supply chain coordination. Barrick's North American mine teams retain on-site judgment, accountability, and control.

The first wave of applications will cover six categories of use cases. In safety, the system will use computer vision and AI monitoring to identify hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors; in production and recovery, the platform will correlate ore flow, mineral processing parameters, equipment maintenance, and operational constraints; the equipment reliability module is designed to predict failures and recommend maintenance actions; and the supply chain module integrates equipment status, maintenance schedules, inventory, supplier performance, and demand forecasts.

Mine planning and exploration are also included in the deployment scope. Avathon will leverage on-site operational data and constraints to assist with scheduling and plan adjustments, while applying machine learning to geological, production, and historical operational data to support exploration decisions and resource development. Barrick stated that the goal is to connect the entire value chain from exploration to production, rather than continuing to operate through separate systems and departments.

Avathon currently positions its platform as a Physical AI system for industrial operations, with capabilities that also include digital twins, equipment normal-behavior modeling, computer vision, and supply chain intelligence. Previously, on September 1, Avathon signed a strategic industrial AI cooperation agreement with Aramco Digital, with its business already covering heavy industry scenarios including energy, mining, manufacturing, aerospace, and logistics.
