India's Deepak Chem Tech Commissions Specialty Chemicals Plant with Rs 3 Billion Investment
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, the chlorination and specialty chemicals plant of Deepak Chem Tech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Deepak Nitrite, located in Dahej, Gujarat, India, was officially commissioned, with cumulative capital expenditure of approximately Rs 3 billion. The commissioning scope includes the main production facilities as well as supporting utilities and infrastructure, with manufacturing operations commencing on the same day.

The Dahej site is an important production base for Deepak Chem Tech's expansion of its specialty chemicals value chain in recent years. The company has previously advanced the construction of hydrogenation, nitration, and multi-purpose specialty chemicals facilities at the site, along with supporting boilers, turbines, tank farms, substations, fire protection, wastewater treatment, and air management facilities to provide utility conditions for the new chemical plants.
In fiscal year 2025–2026, the company completed the commissioning of hydrogenation and nitration facilities at Dahej, of which one hydrogenation unit was commissioned in September 2025 with capital expenditure of approximately Rs 1.15 billion; the second hydrogenation and nitration facility was commissioned in January 2026 with capital expenditure of approximately Rs 850 million. The newly commissioned chlorination and specialty chemicals plant further supplements the reaction process capabilities of the Dahej site, enabling the local production system to cover multiple chemical processes including hydrogenation, nitration, and chlorination.
Deepak Chem Tech is simultaneously advancing MIBK, MIBC, and other specialty chemicals projects at Dahej. The MIBK and MIBC plants use acetone produced by Deepak Phenolics at the same site as raw material, forming an upstream-downstream raw material linkage; the related specialty chemicals facilities had previously entered the engineering and equipment procurement stage, with supporting utility facilities being constructed in parallel.
Deepak Nitrite is currently implementing a large-scale capital investment program at Dahej. In addition to specialty chemicals, it plans to build a 165,000 tonnes per year polycarbonate resin plant with an investment of approximately Rs 50 billion, targeting commissioning in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2027–2028. The Dahej site is forming a production system that runs basic raw materials, specialty chemicals, and engineering plastics in parallel.
