Huanggang Port in Hong Kong, China, Opens at 6:30 a.m. on October 12
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 9, the Security Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China, and the Port Office of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government jointly announced that the reconstructed Huanggang Port is scheduled to officially open at 6:30 a.m. on October 12, providing 24-hour customs clearance services for cross-boundary passengers and passenger vehicles. The new joint inspection building has passed acceptance inspection, and both sides have completed system testing, trial operation, and emergency drills, confirming that conditions for opening are met. After the new port begins operation, passenger clearance services at the original Huanggang Port temporary passenger inspection building and the Hong Kong Lok Ma Chau Control Point will be suspended simultaneously.

The Huanggang Port reconstruction project was launched in 2019. The new joint inspection building has a total floor area of approximately 689,700 square meters and adopts a layout of five floors above ground and four floors below ground, of which the Hong Kong-side port area covers approximately 250,000 square meters. After reconstruction, the port has abolished its traditional cargo function and mainly handles cross-boundary passenger and passenger vehicle clearance between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. It is internally divided into a passenger inspection hall, a vehicle inspection area, a public transport interchange area, and underground transport support facilities.
The new port adopts the "co-location" and "cooperative inspection, single clearance" model, with inspection facilities of Shenzhen and Hong Kong centrally located. When passengers use cooperative inspection self-service channels, they only need to queue once; after completing document verification and identity confirmation, they can complete exit and entry procedures for both sides. The port is planned to be equipped with 134 cooperative inspection self-service channels and 68 manual inspection counters, and also features cooperative inspection facilities for cross-boundary vehicles, with a designed initial daily clearance capacity of approximately 200,000 person-times.
The peripheral transport support works of the port passed completion acceptance in September. The construction at the Huanggang Road node includes new bridge ramps, ground-level side roads, and underground tunnels, connecting the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway and Huanggang Road; the North Plaza connects with the underground passage of the Huanggang Port Station on Shenzhen Metro Line 7, allowing passengers to enter the joint inspection building directly. The related works also include vehicle diversion facilities to channel taxis, buses, and private vehicles into different traffic organization areas.
According to the reply of the State Council, the Hong Kong-side port area of Huanggang Port and the related extension area have been under the jurisdiction of the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region since 0:00 on July 31. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region subsequently organized port facility installation, mechanical and electrical commissioning, traffic stress testing, and joint emergency drills, while Shenzhen simultaneously advanced the construction of peripheral roads and public transport support facilities. After opening on October 12, the new joint inspection building will take over the cross-boundary clearance business of the original temporary passenger inspection facilities.
