en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 9, SLB announced that its new drilling fluids system facility in Pemba, Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique, has commenced operations with an initial storage capacity of 21,000 barrels. The facility serves offshore oil and gas drilling and completion operations in Mozambique, providing formulation, storage, and supply services for drilling fluids and completion fluids, and can simultaneously meet the needs of multiple offshore oil and gas project clients.

The facility adopts a Liquid Mud Plant configuration, integrating the formulation, storage, and supply of drilling and completion fluids. SLB will provide related fluid products and supporting logistics services to offshore operation clients through the Pemba base. The facility reserves expansion space beyond its initial storage scale, and service capacity can be increased subsequently based on the number of clients and offshore drilling activity demand.

During project construction and commissioning, more than 100 jobs were created locally in Pemba, with Mozambican employees accounting for approximately 80%. SLB disclosed that construction and commissioning of the facility accumulated over 67,000 work hours, during which no recordable safety incidents occurred. The company plans to continue employing local personnel in facility operations during the commissioning phase.

SLB incorporates the facility into its oilfield technology services business in Mozambique, providing an onshore fluid supply facility for local offshore oil and gas development. The company marks its 70th anniversary of entering the Mozambican market in 2026, and the new Pemba facility has become an operating asset for its drilling fluids and completion fluids services in the country.
