en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 9, the American automaker Tesla renamed its driver assistance system, formerly called "Full Self-Driving (Supervised)," to "Tesla Assisted Driving" on its official websites in European countries including Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands. The change came after consultations between Tesla and the German Federal Ministry of Transport regarding the system's naming and access to the European market. The German Ministry of Transport confirmed the renaming plan on October 6 and stated its support for advancing EU-wide approval of the system.

German Federal Minister of Transport Steffen Bilger had previously held consultations with Tesla in September to discuss driver assistance technology, system responsibility, and European regulatory approval issues. The German Ministry of Transport believed that the original name "Full Self-Driving" could easily lead consumers to mistakenly believe that the vehicle could independently complete all driving tasks. Tesla subsequently proposed adopting a new product name, and the German Ministry of Transport said it would push for the relevant system to obtain approval for use across Europe as soon as possible.

The system can currently assist drivers with operations such as acceleration, braking, and steering, while drivers must still continuously monitor road conditions and be ready to take over the vehicle at any time. The name change did not alter the system's driver supervision requirements. Tesla's official U.S. website currently still retains the name "Full Self-Driving (Supervised)."

As of October 9, Tesla's driver assistance system had obtained relevant permits in 8 EU member states, with Slovakia advancing its approval process. The Netherlands had previously approved the system for use under specific local conditions, while other European countries are still conducting regulatory reviews and testing separately.

The EU-wide approval vote originally planned for October has been postponed to at least December, with member states such as France still conducting further assessments. The German Federal Ministry of Transport is coordinating approval matters with the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, the relevant Dutch certification body, and Tesla.
