en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 12, Technip Energies announced that it has been awarded a large engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract by India's Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for the delivery of two process units for the Lube Modernization and Bottom Upgrading Project (LMBU) at the Mumbai Refinery in Maharashtra. The contract covers an integrated hydrocracker and catalytic dewaxing unit with an annual processing capacity of 550,000 tons, and a solvent deasphalting unit with an annual processing capacity of 850,000 tons, corresponding to contract revenue of EUR 250 million to 500 million.

This EPC contract covers one integrated hydrocracker and catalytic dewaxing unit (IHCD) and one solvent deasphalting unit (SDA). The two facilities are among the main process units of the LMBU project and will be integrated into the existing production system of the Mumbai Refinery, rather than being built as a new standalone refinery. Technip Energies is responsible for engineering design, equipment and material procurement, and construction delivery within the contract scope.

The IHCD unit will be used to revamp the existing refinery's lube base oil production system, processing relevant feedstocks and producing base oils through hydrocracking and catalytic dewaxing processes. The base oil products involved in the project are used in the manufacture of automotive engine lubricants and industrial lubricants. The SDA unit is responsible for processing heavier refinery materials, separating relevant components through the solvent deasphalting process, and providing feedstock for heavy oil processing and subsequent product production.

Technip Energies will engineer the integration of the new units with the currently operating production facilities in accordance with the requirements of the refinery revamp project. The delivery scope of the two process units has been defined in the EPC contract, involving process interfaces between the new facilities and the existing refinery units. The specific interface engineering workload, equipment list, and shutdown and changeover arrangements have not yet been announced.

This award will be included in Technip Energies' project delivery business segment order backlog for the third quarter of 2026.
