India's Vimag Labs Commissions Motor Manufacturing Plant and Completes First Batch of Product Exports
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 13, Indian motor technology company Vimag Labs announced that its first dedicated manufacturing plant at Met City Industrial Park in Jhajjar, Haryana, has officially commenced production and has completed the production and export of its first batch of motors and control systems. The plant currently covers an area of approximately 929 square meters and can be expanded to approximately 1,858 square meters. The company plans to invest approximately INR 500 million in phases to expand manufacturing capacity in India, with a long-term goal of establishing a manufacturing network capable of producing up to 10,000 sets of motors and control systems per month.

The new plant primarily manufactures and assembles medium-power motors, electronic control systems, and related electric drive components, employing Vimag Labs' independently developed permanent-magnet-free motor technology. The production facility is equipped with clean zones, automated production lines, digital manufacturing systems, and IoT monitoring equipment capable of recording process data and product traceability information during production. The initial production tasks include process validation, product testing, and volume manufacturing of medium-power motors, with products targeting electric vehicles and other electrified equipment.
The Virtual Magnet Synchronous Motor (VMSM) technology developed by Vimag Labs employs a software-controlled dynamic magnetic field design, utilizing power electronics systems and proprietary control software to regulate the motor's magnetic field, replacing the rare-earth permanent magnets in the rotors of conventional permanent magnet synchronous motors. In July 2026, the company obtained its fifth Indian patent for this technology platform, covering a rotary transformer-excited synchronous motor and its control structure, applicable to electric mobility, industrial automation, and other electrified systems.
As existing customer orders and manufacturing projects advance, Vimag Labs plans to expand its product range to high-power motors and control systems of 570 kW and above, while adding manufacturing, testing, and process validation facilities. The company is evaluating additional manufacturing site locations in India and is collaborating with component suppliers, tooling companies, and equipment manufacturers. The plan for monthly production of 10,000 sets covers the future manufacturing network and is not the current capacity already achieved at the Jhajjar plant.
The company previously completed a USD 5 million Series A funding round led by Accel with participation from Chakra Growth Fund and Thinkuvate, and signed a manufacturing cooperation memorandum of understanding with Jendamark to advance large-scale production of VMSM motors. Vimag Labs also secured an exclusive license, manufacturing, and commercialization agreement for a U.S. technology involving a bidirectional high-voltage inverter platform with a maximum operating voltage of 1,000 volts. As its Indian manufacturing network expands, the company expects to create approximately 100 to 150 direct and indirect employment opportunities in production, quality inspection, engineering technology, and supply chain roles.
