en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 20, US communications carrier Lumen Technologies announced the launch of its Dual Path optical wavelength transport service, providing enterprises with two physically separated, independently routed optical communication links between the same locations. Both links operate at full bandwidth, with a service level agreement (SLA) guaranteeing 99.99% network availability. The company will verify the physical paths of both routes before activation and continuously monitor route independence during operation, delivering redundant connectivity for artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and mission-critical enterprise applications.

Dual Path uses two independently routed optical wavelength connections, with route separation covering underground conduits, fiber routes, building entrances, network gateway facilities, equipment racks, and optical interface cards. Lumen verifies both transmission paths during the service design phase, confirming that the routes share no overlapping physical segments and providing customers with proof of path separation. Enterprises can obtain two simultaneously operating optical communication links from a single carrier without having to procure transport services separately from different operators.

The service is deployed over Lumen's fiber network spanning approximately 340,000 route miles. According to AlphaSense research data, eight of the world's ten major artificial intelligence infrastructure markets can access three or more available optical transport paths through Lumen's network. Dual Path primarily serves data center interconnection, high-capacity data transmission, and enterprise applications requiring continuous network connectivity.

Lumen also disclosed operational data for its AI network operations systems. Its Service Assurance platform currently configures more than 380 automated workflows, executing approximately 5 million times per year, with machine-to-machine intelligence systems capable of identifying or resolving about 80% of network issues in advance. Generative AI fault diagnosis capabilities can directly resolve or identify approximately 35% of service ticket issues.

In customer service, Lumen uses the AskGreg multi-agent assistant to provide engineers with network history, fault diagnosis information, and remediation recommendations; the NORA AI customer operations assistant provides real-time diagnostics, planned maintenance, historical repair records, and ticket support. These systems, together with the Dual Path service, form Lumen's network reliability management framework for enterprise customers.
